This time last year, we took on the upkeep of the grounds around the library from the council, and library trustee and volunteer Jenny T has transformed the weedkiller- drenched, barren land with odd-shaped shrubs into a beautiful community garden for everyone to enjoy.
As a reminder, you can see how it looked from this snap from last summer’s Picnic in the Park…
…. after the kind donation of trailer loads of topsoil from our friend Chris from Loughborough….
….the first flowers were planted soon after.
This is the difference a year of hard graft, care, generous donations of plants and a lot of sunshine makes:
If, at any time of the year, you would like to donate plants to the Anstey Library Community Garden, we would welcome them. All of the land on the library side of the Jubilee Park footpath is in our care, so there is a lot of space for more. Quite a few locals have left plants by our door for us to find and we even have our very own secret gardener who sometimes adds a few plants to the borders!
