Our thanks go to Anstey Parish Council today – who last night voted to provide free lawn cutting services for the green wedge of lawn around Anstey Community Library.
The Parish currently have responsibility for cutting the grass in the park area, however the green wedge around the Library, on the other side of the footpath, was the responsibility of Leicestershire County Council. The contract runs out in April, and we would have had to then fund the lawn cutting ourselves – but the Parish have very kindly agreed to help us by cutting this area at the same time as the park.
As of last summer, we have taken on the responsibility (again from the Council) of caring for the library garden borders ourselves, creating a community garden of flowers and shrubs for everyone to enjoy. Jenny T planted lots of bulbs around the posts of the library sign last autumn – so keep an eye out in the coming months for spring blooms.
